South Hall Community Food Pantry
All About SHCFP

Our Vision
To feed the food insecure of Hall County in body and spirit, and to empower our neighbors by helping them find the resources they need to support their lives.
Our Mission
- To gather, purchase, and distribute nutritious foods;
- To serve the hungry compassionately with dignity and respect;
- To surround our efforts in the spirit of prayer for our clients, volunteers, and the community at large;
- To provide information about additional supportive services available in the community;
- To manage our organization and its growth with responsibility, accountability, and authenticity.
Our Strategic Objectives
- To provide our neighbors with three to four days of nutritious foods per monthly visit;
- To support our volunteers with the tools, facilities, and equipment to make service a pleasure for everyone;
- To build strong relationships with Community Food Banks in order to make the most of every dollar received;
- To grow a committed base of individual and organizational donors to support our ongoing financial needs;
- To serve as an advocate for the food insecure of Hall County.

A History of Dedicated Service
The South Hall Community Food Pantry is an all-volunteer organization and we could not exist without the many services our volunteers provide every day.
The Pantry has served the food insecure in Hall County since 2005, though our story started a few years earlier. In 2003, three churches came together with a desire to create a food pantry in the southern part of the county:
Christ Lutheran Church
Oakwood First United Methodist Church
St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church
By early 2005, the South Hall Community Food Pantry became a reality and officially opened its doors in a small storage building donated by Oakwood First United Methodist Church which sits on the edge of the church property.

Over the years, the Pantry has had the opportunity to provide food to neighbors in need, to pray with them and encourage them. Originally, we provided pre-packed boxes of food that were carried out to cars in a drive-thru fashion. However, in August of 2024, we became what’s called a “Client Choice” pantry – one in which our neighbors can come into the pantry and shop for what they need. This has enabled us to reduce food waste and to serve families the foods they will enjoy.
In addition, our network of sponsoring churches has grown since our founding and now includes seven churches:
Christ Lutheran Church
Flowery Branch Methodist Church
McEver Rd United Methodist Church
Oakwood First United Methodist Church
Redwine Methodist Church
Restoration Presbyterian Church
Sts. Mary and Martha of Bethany Episcopal Church

As you might imagine, as our work has grown, so has the need for space. In early 2025, we were given the use of a building in front of Redwine Methodist Church in Gainesville, GA. This location has far more space than our first location and much better parking and has enabled us to create a better shopping experience for all who come here.
If you live in Hall County and you’re in need of our assistance, please stop by. If you’re looking for an opportunity to help others in your community by volunteering, please stop by, or fill out the form on our Volunteer page letting us know of your interest.
