At this year’s Empty Bowl event, the GA Mountain Food Bank (GMFB) presented its Excellence Award to South Hall Community Food Pantry for outstanding service and dedication to our community. In the photo, a representative of GMFB presents the award to SHCFP Board Member Debbie Dill. In presenting the award, GMFP had this to say about our Pantry:
“South Hall has been an incredible partner to the Food Bank — always open to suggestions, quick to adapt, and willing to innovate. Recognizing that working families often struggle to attend during traditional pantry hours, they expanded their schedule to include evenings and weekends. They also embraced the neighbor choice model, giving families the dignity of selecting their own food, and even relocated into a dedicated church parsonage to better serve their mission.
“This past year, despite the challenges of relocating, they increased the number of people served by an impressive 29%. They’ve also adopted Oasis Insights, an electronic intake system to streamline their process, and under the leadership of Executive Director Dawn Matthieu, they’ve been an active voice on our Agency Advisory Council.
“We congratulate South Hall Community Food Pantry for their innovation, dedication, and compassion.”
